How do you get potential clients to take notice of you and your brilliance? How does your brand stack up against others in your industry? If you would like to show up effectively and get people to take notice, read below. It is not as hard as you think.
Secret #1: Story Power - Telling your story is the quickest and easiest way to create instant emotional attachment as well as allow your audience to relate to you. Your story is how you attract people that have been through what you have been through. You must be willing to share the scrapes you have received in life, and this can be very difficult. However, if you open up and share your most defining moments in life and business, people will relate to you. It makes you human, it makes you approachable, and it will open the door to those that are seeking you out.
Your compelling story should tell others why you do what you do. Why do you stand on this particular platform of ____________ (fill in the blank)? What were some of the defining moments that you will never forget? Learn to share, and I promise, they will get it because they will get YOU!
Secret #2: What Ticks You Off? - Don’t be afraid to be controversial and share what ticks you off. If you believe in something or if you disagree with the way something is done in your industry, talk about it, and share it with your community. Here is the deal: when we become what we call a “Me, Too” brand there is nothing that makes you stand out. You automatically blend in with the rest of the herd. You have to express yourself and your unique talents. I am not saying be destructive, but be honest.
For example, Rosie O’Donnell is very opinionated and tells you exactly what ticks her off, no holding back. I know you are saying, I don’t want to ruffle feathers and taint my brand or my image. Well, I tell you, if you are not ticking a few people off, you are not out there enough. I’m just saying!
Secret #3: Have a Signature Look and Image - When you go to events, such as networking, charity, and business events where your ideal clients maybe, show up with a signature look that is cohesive with your brand. For example, women, wear your brand colors to your events. Show up in a way that is memorable. For the men, a signature look for you maybe a certain type of “It Factor,” and your “It Factor” is the way you show up every time you make your presence known.
In addition, men can use the world of fashion to show up or a certain brand of fashion to create the signature look or a specific color of shirt that you would wear all the time. For example, when Steve Jobs was alive. I loved the way he showed up to a new launch of an Apple product. He would always wear a black shirt, or a dark colored blazer. His look was consistent and memorable. What can you add to your Signature Image to stand out?
You’re probably not as famous as you would like to be, but if you use the strategies and secrets above, it will help you to get to the place you would like to be. Remember, it is not about being famous, but it is about showing up in a way that will make your potential client take notice of you and the results that you can provide.
