It’s Time for R.E.S.T.

Do you remember nap time when you were little? Whoever was in charge decided you needed a break, a nap, a rest. If you were like me, you probably were unhappy about that because you wanted to keep playing.

Sometimes as we get older we don’t change. We just keep going and going, just like the Energizer™ bunny. But, we have to realize that sometimes we still need R.E.S.T. But, not the kind that means simply stopping what we’re doing and sitting down and doing nothing. We’re walking through our 2nd Act journey and this R.E.S.T will help move our lives forward toward a purpose-filled life.

R – Reinvention

E – Encouragement

S – Self-Discovery

T – Transformation

REINVENTION: Change is both exciting and scary. Sometimes we can get into a rut. We’re not sure what we should do or where we should go. There are even times when life forces us to change. I heard someone say, “You have to know when to leave the party.” Is it time for a change—your Reinvention? If so, what’s holding you back?

ENCOURAGEMENT: I’ve always considered myself a “cheerleader.” I like to help people see their gifts, talents, and self worth. To encourage means to inspire someone with the courage or confidence to do something. Most people feel good after a word of encouragement. All of us can do that.

SELF-DISCOVERY: It has taken me quite a long time to discover who I really am. If other people told me I was this kind of person or that kind of person, I tended to agree with them. It wasn’t until I was much older that I finally embraced my authentic self. Self-discovery is so freeing and empowering. Find out who you really are.

TRANSFORMATION: A caterpillar grows into a butterfly. We can transform ourselves in many ways. Whether in our appearance, nature, or character – our relationships, families, or communities, transformation is possible. Take small steps in one area and begin to move forward. You’ll see that it’s not as difficult as you might have thought. Remember, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Yes, there is still a need for R.E.S.T., but the kind that moves us forward toward a purpose-filled life. That’s what I want. What about you?
